Problem With Is7 Onboard Sound

Whenever I get a popup box I just get the generic beep from the computers speaker ( the one in the case ). No sound emits from the speakers. This is a fresh install of Windows XP Professional. Whenever I try to play a song Windows Media player gives me this
Cannot play back the audio stream; no audio hardware is available, or the hardware is not responding.

I've done all the necessary Windows updates. I've checked in Device Manager to see if there were any problems with any audio drivers, codecs, etc. and I saw nothing wrong. I checked bios settings to make sure the onboard audio controller was enabled and it was.

:wtf:

Anyone with an Abit Is7 please help.

...tried going into Control Panel>>>Sound And Audio Devices to see what you default player etc is?

What does it show under devices?

hm well i've run that exact same board and the audio worked fine. i've heard that the audio might be affected by OC'ing. go ahead and check out if it works when your system isn't OC'd.
