Possible network card failure?... please REPLY!
Hello,
I was just experiencing some problems with my laptop and connecting to the internet....and am wondering if anyone out there could help. I plug the ethernet cable in and the green light flashes indicating that data is transfering, but i cannot do anything on the internet. I fooled around with a lot of stuff but couldn't get anything to work. My dad has an older laptop with a USB ehternet adapter. I tried using this and I got the internet to work. Just wondering if anyone knew what is going on here?
Thanks for any help!

On HIS machine - check the TCP/IP settings. Set yours to match.
Try resetting the router/cable modem. My wireless BB antenna control must be reset if I change machines.
I was using the USB ethernet adapter....it's just a little things that you put the ethernet cable and in one end and plug USB into your computer...It's not really an old adapter ....my dad just uses it because he doesn't have an ethernet port. But yes I could only get the internet to work when I plugged in with the USB.
try this: go to command prompt (run ->cmd ) and the type ipconfig /release press enter and then ipconfig /renew.
