problems installing radeon 9200 aiw
a7v8xx board
2500+ sempron
512 corsair 3200ddr
radeon 9200se aiw
win xp-pro sp2
I tried to install the latest catalyst drivers (5.2 IIRC), uninstalled the old mmc and drivers first per instructions. When I came to install the new catalyst when the drivers were being installed it bombed out saying 'please ensure standar vga driver is installed' (or words to that effect). Looked at system/hardware/... but there are no display drivers. Checking in 'display properties'/settings/advanced/adaptor/... there is a vga driver there but not 'standard vga', also some of the io addresses are crossed out in red.
I remember this problem before but with win98,you just installed the standard vga drivers and got on with it - xp doesn't seem to let you do that!
Sorry that some of the above is a bit vague but I'm at work, not at my pc at the moment - I'll give further details later - OTOH, if this is a standard problem can anyone help?!

Install the [enhanced] svga drivers and forget updates.I have a 9000 Pro. without them, why do you think you need them ?
I think there for The All in Wonder versions.
I did it before but same result. :-( In desperation I tried swapping out the 9200SE 128MB AIW with a 9000 64MB AIW which installed and ran perfectly (there doesn't seem much difference in performance). Tried the 9200SE AIW in another machine and guess what?! it installed first time and ran perfectly so I guess there was a win XP screwup somewhere.
Aside: being a bit of an AIW fan (except that the TV card doesn't do teletext) I got a 9800SE cheap - the Omega drivers sucessfully transformed the card into a 9800 Pro, Yay!
Thanks for the advice...
