Modbin6 - Stuck at change working directory?

edited March 2005 in Hardware
First post so a quick hello,

This is my first attempt at modding a bios, so treat me as a noob. But be nice please.

Now the problem. Trying to see if there are any hidden ram voltage or other adjustables in my a7n266-vm/aa bios. I have the board modded to be able to change the fsb. But the memory craps out at about 154fsb with 2 sticks. I think that a little more voltage to the memory may allow me to run my 2 512 sticks up to the 181fsb, that is atainable with a single stick.

Trouble is that I get stuck at the same screen no matter what modbin I use? I have tried both the regular, and the T-mod bios mod v3.6. But the first screen that pops up is a change working directory box.
(K:\AWARD\) In T-mod bio mod v3.6

I've tried lots of variables and nothing seems to work. No matter what I type in, when I press enter, I get a (directory not found) message.

I am probably just missing something stupid, but I figured this would be the place to ask.

Any help would be welcome.

Steve

I doubt you can even do that to a KT266 board. You're already running way pass it's specs without file corruption, that's a blessing in disguise. Any higher and it's a garantee you'll kill the board with too much voltage and/or corrupt the os.

Its a modified n-force 1 board, not via.
Here is a link to the mod: http://www.nforcershq.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=530&highlight=a7n266vm+jen

Its a 24/7 seti cruncher, and my backup rig. Its running a mobile 2500 right now at 14x168=2355. I have been running it between 168-181 for the last 10 months. No corruption, and the same XP-OS installation for over a year now.

I can run all the way up to the max 181 of the bios without problems with a single 512mb stick of KVR, at spd timmings 2.5-4-4-8. I can run at 168fsb with 2-2-2-6 timings, with the same single stick. Any higher than 168 and I have to loosen the memory timings. But stick in another stick (256 or 512) and 154 is the max with whatever timings. It would sure be nice to run 2 sticks of memory. I would be able to sign this box up for other projects that are going to require a gig of memory then.

I just wanted to see if there are any hidden voltage adjustments, that I might be able to try. I think with 2 sticks there just is not enough voltage.

Can anybody help with the stuck at (Directory not found) error message? Do I need to create a directory before loading the program? Do I have to create a batch file to name the K:\award\ directory to someting else? Is the K: directory, a memory based directory? Do I need a different program to do what I want?

Any help with the problem would be helpful.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Well i'll be damned! i thought it was a 266 board. Ahhh the seti/folding days... i remember those. Nice decent oc for a Mobile.

Well if you're looking for and nforce2 or a KT333 overclocking beast, i'm getting these out to make room for my A64.

Good luck on finding that bios.

It is a 200/266 board. And it is one of the worst clocking mobile cpu's around, I can boot into windows and benchmark at 2400 at 1.85vlts but it will fail prime within 15 min. Stable as a rock at 2355 though.

I'm not looking for a bios, I'm looking for a way to see if there are any hidden options in the bioses that I have for the board. But i keep getting stuck at that first change the working directory pop up box.

Just looking for any other options that are available to me.

    Stevea,

When you mod the bios using Modbin you need to have the bios in the folder where Modbin is at or you need to point the program to the location of the bios file.
