BIOS and HDD problem, pls help

edited March 2005 in Hardware
Hello everybody,

Please help!

I built the system with two SATA HDD (CPU Intel 3,2; MB ASUS P5AD2).

While powering up the system for the first time, BIOS detected only one HDD.
I was not sure whether it was OK but installed Win MCE. After install Win showed only one HDD.

Trying to correct it I changed the cables and I’ve got the following configuration:
- Primary IDE Master: Plextor DVDR (Type – CDROM)
- Third IDE Master: Samsung HDD (Auto)
- Third IDE slave: Samsung HDD (Auto)

Will this work? If positive, should I reformat the HDDs and reinstall for it to see both HDDs?

Thank you!

Are you trying to set the two Samsung HDDs in a raid setup?

If not unplug the one that does get seen by the bios and check to see if it then sees the second Samsung HDD.

Thank you for the prompt reply.

Some RAID stuff installed but I do not need RAID, just two HDDs.

Sorry but it is confusing to me

But it does see both now. I am not sure whether the configuration I've got would work.

    Thank you!
