problem with maxtor 250Gb sata 150
hello!
Here's my problem:
My PC doesn't boot. i have an ASUS P4C800-E DELUXE motherboard and a SATA HD of 120GB HD. since i needed more space i bought another HD -> MAXTOR diamod 10 250GB SATA 150 HDD.
i disconnected my older HD and conected my new one and used partition magic. i partitioned my disk in three partitions of 50GB, 100GB and 100GB.
when first i tried to do this i put the first partition as a FAT32. i tried to do the same for the other 2 and couldn't, it only accepted NTFS. so okay. i let it go.
i installed windows XP and after instaling it i noticed that the third partition didn't show.
i went back to partition magic and decided to put everything in NTFS all primary (like some friends advised me to do)
i tried instaling XP and it didn't let me! it constantly said that i was trying to instal on a diferent OS and that i should format. and even after formatting it repeated this message.
when next i rebooted the PC it didn't reboot. it stopped right at the loading of the BIOS. it just stayed there. i can't even access setup. i connected my older SATA disk and disconected the new one and no problem. then i tried the 2 of them at the same time and it blocked again right at the beggining.
what should i do? what's wrong here? i thought it might have been because the new disk is a SATA 150 but i seem to have read on the motherboard characteristics that it supports such a disk.
is this some kind of incompatibility? what can i do to solve this?
