"Linux is ready for the desktop" says IBM
After the statements that Linux is not ready for the desktop market and that it will never succeed in that sector, IBM have come back with a statement that they actually believe it is ready for the desktop market.... if only to plug their product a little....
[blockquote]IBM has previously been noted both for its readiness to sell Linux on its own very wonderful servers and its cautionary advice that Linux is not ready for the desktop. On Monday, however, Sam Docknevich of IBM Global Services said that Linux is ready to "blossom" on the desktop.[/blockquote]Source - The Register

It's inherent to the statement that you do not identify with the secondary qualifier.
That said, The Architect constructed my statements.
Currently, I'm running on RHEL 3 WS and it's a very impressive desktop right out of the box. A non-hacker can easily install and use a linux desktop, just about the only people that are gonna cry are gamers wanting to play the latest and greatest. Also, the people that don't understand why their designed for windows hardware isn't supported. But, its all part of the learning curve. A win-raid such as highpoint, etc that are so common are completely useless in a linux enviroment. Not because it doesn't work, but because its only needed for windows.
