Let it be known,...............I put a wimp-um om my battery of HDD's They are constantly under stress and duress.

The only two that have let me down are a pair of Maxtor's (30 & 40 gig's).

I am trying to bring these bad boys back to life, to no avail. Take the 40, I fdisk the drive, delete all partitions and create 1 active partition and everything seems cool, till I try to format and it tell me improper media; retry and so on.

My PQ boot disk reads an entire row of ?????????????????????, literally.

I believe I've got a bad sector or partition :kaka:

Any suggestions?

try low level format. If that doesn't fix it they are scrap.

Yea, done that. There seems to be a partition on that drive that is corrupt.

Yeah it's toast then. You can also try the drive tools for the manufacturer of that drive but I wouldn't expect any miracles.
