HPT372 - multiple RAID arrays?

edited April 2005 in Hardware
Ok, this may be a really basic question so please excuse my ignorance if that's the case...

I've got a kx7 333R with the onboard HPT372 controller (I think - all off the top of my head) and I'm running a striped array of (2) 40GB ata133s as my primary stuff with a 3rd 40GB scratch disk. All runs fine.

I am in the process of ripping my CD collection and would like to store them in a RAID 1 on the computer. Is anybody familiar enough with the capabilities of the HPT372 to tell me if I can run both my existing array and a RAID 1 of 200GBs off the same controller (obviously moving the scratch disk) or do I have to purchase a separate controller to get the second RAID?

Should a new controller be the case, would I see dramatic (price vs. performance) benefits to using SATA vs. ATA133? Any recommendations?

I'm surprised no one responede sooner!! You need a second controller. The embedded controller can do only one array of any kind at a time.

    Sorry!
