Network Priorities

edited April 2005 in Science & Tech
Hi,

First post here, I hope this is the right forum for it.... I'm just wondering if anyone knows of any good ways to put priorities on various programs that use the internet both on my computer, and on the entire network. Right now, I'm hoping for something that will enable me to download while still playing online games. I've heard of Quality of Service (QoS), but have no clue how to get it working/operate it. Thanks. I'm running in Windows XP.

Edit: I just noticed the "Bandwidth Priority" post.... that helped a little, but I'm still generally clueless about this!

Heh, I was going to link to the bandwidth priority post.

I don't know of any freeware (for cheap) software that will allow you prioritize your network traffic, which is why I reccomend buying a $50 LinkSys WRT54G router which has network prioritization.
