Automatic updates locked on!

I just came back to my computer and it had rebooted. After I logged back in, I got a message from Windows saying an important update had been installed and Windows was re-booted.

My settings have always been "Notify me but don't automatically download or install them". Now, it's set for automatic and I can not switch it! The other options are all grayed out.

Is this Microsoft's newest trick? WE control YOUR operating system? I don't like this. I'm going to have to lock updates out through my firewall.

Did you connect to your network at work? You can change those settings in the registry. Most often that's done when using SUS (Software Update Services). If you look in the SUS admin manual (on Microsoft's site) It will tell you what registry settings to set (or remove).
