Computer shuts down

edited April 2005 in Science & Tech
I have a serious prob. I will be playing a game, any game. Online or not, and about 5-15 mins into the game, the computer shuts down. I have run a few virus scans but the same thing happens when i run the scan as happens in the games. macafee, zone alarm, Ad-Aware SE, Spybot. All of these i have run. Ad-Aware and Spybot have only recently began working so i can use those, but i cant seem to fix the problem. I have also been told by a friend i have trojans. how can i fix my computer.

Have you changed anything recently? Maybe sound or graphic card drivers?
Also, what sort of temperatures is your CPU reaching?

Sounds like a heat issue to me. Try to get some temps, like Rapture mentioned. Easiest way is to go into the BIOS. Right after your PC shuts down, turn it back on, enter the BIOS (usually by pressing F2 or Del key) and look for the temperature of your system / cpu.

it wasnt going into the BIOS. I held the F2 and it just became a blank screen with a flashing cursur at the top. (Im not very computer-literate...)
