windows explorer problem

edited May 2005 in Science & Tech
I am having a small problem with windows explorer. When i drag and drop files, they land directly were you put them and overlap, as apposed to locking into evenly spaced rows. however, icons on my desktop lock into even rows. ive been playing around, and have not been able to fix it. does anybody know a setting or something to make icons lock in even rows?

I'm not sure you can do it automatically without using auto arrange (which I really hate) I take it having to allign to grid every time gets on your nerves?

Have you tried right clicking in the window where your saving them and under (Arrange Icons By) Click on which you prefer-- By Name, Size, Type, Or when Modified. Then under that you can click on-- Show in Groups, Auto Arrange, or Align to Grid.

Also, You can right click in the window where your saving them and click on (View) Then choose yout preference of how the files are displayed..
