Well who's playing it? I just picked up a copy today haven't started it yet but it sounds like all the advantages of a MORPG without all the annoyance, plus #1 in my book no monthly cost.
I found that for $49cdn it was to good to pass up. If it was say $64cdn I would have let it slide but for it's price if I get 3 months of entertainment out of it I'm happy with it.
Plus the fact that it's online with no monthly means I don't have to play regularly to make my moneys worth. Also the way the game is set-up you don't have to power level to keep up with the jones you basically level up relatively quick and cap off but once you are at the top you can switch things around and make changes so you dont' have to start all over again to get back to the fun stuff.
So far it really feels like a MORPG or perhaps a MORPG lite - it just doesn't have all the stuff I hate about MORPG's in it.
I'll be getting it tomorrow. I played the beta events as well and it was a blast, I waited a while becuase of monetary concerns I had with rent and all that crap. But not anymore
So I spent some good time with it this weekend. Good solid game, load times are great and haven't lagged out at all, but that's because when you go out of an area to an adventure map it spawns the map just for you (or your group). The quests range from go there kill it or fetch quests and a couple other minor variations. The great thing about fetch quests is that you can insta-telli back to major towns which is usually where the quests are coming from so you don't have to run all the way there and back again wasting time.
Combat is fun not much different from point and click but all the classes have some cool effects that add some nice variety and management to the game.
Healing - oh healing - no need to min-max that shit outside of a fight soon as combat ends you start to heal back and fast to go from nearly dead to fully healed takes about 10 secs it's sweat you can see the health bar rising.
Energy (magic) constantly recharges you use it for casting spells and using skills.
i tried playing it this afternoon for several hours, and it kept crashing saying something about a hardware problem. this is weird, cuz i played the beta events with no problems at all, but now it crashes so often i couldnt even get to the next town outside of the starting town. it was really frustrating. i might need to underclock my computer, but i shouldnt have to. investigating . . .
i underclocked my pc, and it has been working just fine. the weird thing is that the config i had it ran smooth as butter with no errors in prime95. i thought that if you would ever have any errors at certain FSB speeds or multipliers, prime would pick it up. im building a new rig though as we speak, so this machine has already been downgraded (taking the ram to my new box and using some other stuff in this guy) and its running fine now, so that must have been the problem. anyway, i am loving the game, its so much fun and the dynamic environments are awesome!
Nice pics it really is a great looking game. I haven't played it for a couple months now but I think I may go back and pick it up again. Probably start over though just for something to do.
Yup, nice thing is go with a different profession and all the new quests and skills are opened up, like playing a whole new game. Cant wait for the summer update either.
Bah, go play WoW, do Molten Core raids, 3 raids a week, at least 5 hours per raid. And it only takes anywhere from 2-5 months to farm a full set of Tier 1 or 2 epic equipment. Yayyy
I cant stand the concept of pay to play, its like being in a clan only you pay for it. Once I feel forced to play a game it just stops being interesting and I find other things to buy instead. Like beer!

I like the skill concept. You go around hunting bosses and when you kill one of your profession you can capture elite skills, at least past a certain level. It means you need to do more than meat grind to get good at the game. Skills are more important than levels to some degree.
The only bad thing about this game is that there is no real 1 vs 1 battles. I've been playing "Guild Wars" for probally 3 years now and they still havn't made good PvP. But the good new is if you guys like Guild Wars, there coming out with Guild Wars 2 soon.
Holy thread necromancy batman. Oddly enough it's probably been a few years since I've even played Guild Wars. I'm a solo player at heart and I found the grinding past level 10 to be tediously boring. The PvP is fun as they have it, but some solo PvP would be a nice addition. I think the only issue with GW is that solo PvP would have to be balanced lvl vs lvl and class vs class.
I'm still looking forward to GW2 though. I think they've done about as much as they can do with the format of GW1 and that they certainly have the tools at hand to make a much more engaging and epic experience with GW2. However if all it turns out to be is more of the same with a graphics update then I won't bother.

Sorry about the size but jpeg artifacts just dont do the game justice.
Ditto.
Levels cap at 20 but you can still do some skill development past then.
