Sending email from open hotspot

I usually connect to the internet through my RoadRunner cable modem. I just got a laptop with wireless. If I'm in a wireless hotspot area and want to send email, what mail server would I use to do it? The RR mail server doesn't work.

From what I,ve found it depends on who's hotspot your using. Some don't support "POP3" mail server accounts.
Also, What e-mail program are you using?

You current ISP or email provider may require an authenticated login to their SMTP server.
If they do not require an authenticated login, your ISP may require that you are on their network to use their SMTP server. This restriction is designed to keep people from using their servers to send spam. In this case, you will need to change your Outlook settings to use the server of the hotspot.
You may find that one of the online email programs will work on it. Trial & error testing is the only thing I can suggest, because I've never used wireless systems..
Maybe some of our other members that have wireless and have used hotspots can help. Come on gang, Anybody emailed through a hotspot before?

to send pop mail you have to set the settings to the current isp's smtp service. Which means you just simpley need to know what provider you are currently using. Often it'll be smtp.isp's name.com but not always so best to ask if possible. Also some won't allow you to use their smtp service for sending mail as a security thing. The reality is if you are using a lot of raoming connections and need to send mail you are best to use gmail, hotmail etc...
