Software for Deard Pixels Test on LCD Monitor

Hello, there,

I wonder if there is software that helps examine dead pixels on a LCD monitor. Could somebody tell me, please?

    As far as I know HM, There is no software that will help you examine dead pixels on a monitor. I could be wrong though, but never heard of anything like that.
    If it's a dead pixel, you'll see it on the screen. It'll always be in the same position on the screen.
    You may be getting confused by manufacturers offering the dead pixel check on LCD monitors before you buy them. (they start the monitor up and examine it visually for you) Which, As far as I know all LCD monitors have some dead pixels. Could be off to the side of the screen--(not very noticable), could be right in the middle of the screen--(annoying).
    Some manufacturers will do a check on them for a fee before sending it to you.
    And some will gaurantee you to have a minimal count of dead pixels also--some 3-5, some 6-9, etc.

    Its sometimes possible to squash a dead pixel into working, I've done it a few times but doesnt work for all TFTs. Press down on the monitor (but not too hard) with your thumb on the dead pixel and sort of massage the areaaround the pixel.

    Sounds stupid, looks stupid and nobody will believe it worked but sometimes it does.

    Wow, Didn't know that rapture. Learn something new everyday.
    I imagine it pulls the static charge around on the screen and resets the pixel somehow.
    Makes sense.

    wow, so i have heard that before but sort of laughed it off. but now that ive heard it from a fellow icrontian, i am going to have to try that. thanks for the advice!

    dont mean to ask a stupid question but how do you know if you have a dead pixel? would the area of the screen have a dark spot?

    The visible result is a fixed pixel that appears as an extremely tiny dark or bright discolored spot.

    HM, I searched for a while and for out I was wrong, I did find some software to test your pc for dead pixels--- Dead Pixel Buddy. Hope it helps.

    OverLoad, they also show small examples of dead pixels for you to see.
