multiple "unconnected" icons

edited July 2005 in Science & Tech
recently, when resuming windows from hibernate i see as many as 10 or more "unconnected" icons on the taskbar folled by a "connected" icon. the connection is good and i finnally just disabled the alert in the connection properties dialogue. no viruses no dropouts no speed fluctuations. i frequently run spybot and mcafee virus scan and i think this hijack log, although busy doesnt raise any flags. connection is hardwired thru a linksys router and ihave mcafee firewall. could someone have been trying to ride me? any thoughts and advise is greatly appreciated.

This is just a guess.....but here goes.

When you go into hibernate mode it's dropping your internet/network connection. When you come out of hibernation something is trying to connect before the internet/network connection regains it's IP so you are getting the pop ups.

Does this happen when you power the computer up or only when coming back from hibernation?

i only use hibernate. but i havent "shut er down" to verify. ill enable the disconnect alert, shut er down, and see whahapens. its no big deal but seems strange to happen out of the blue like it did. thanks for your time and ill get back.
