DMI POOL DATA TROUBLE PLS help

IM building this pc for the first time so im a newbie:help: I installled windows xp pro on the harddrive and it worked and reboot it then it says boot from cd. so i put in the xp cd and says to install xp and then formats the hardrive. i already installed xp why is it doing this? then when it finishes formating it says hard drive not working properly or improperly installed. well it was working fine a while ago....i checked the ide cable and the wires and everything was ok... so then i reboot it again then there its goes .... it freezes on DMI Pool Data.and also the floppy drive light indicator is always on.....PLS help ASAP! THAnks

    Please post all of your system specs.

    Have you tried clearing the CMOS?

    The floppy problem sounds as though the cable is installed upside down.
