Help! ACPI Software deleted default power schemes!

edited August 2005 in Science & Tech
hello pals, recently i installed some ACPI power management software for my laptop (i acutally installed a couple of them, am not sure which is responsible for it) and the software deleted all the power management schemes except "Home/Office Desk". now i cant create a new scheme. if i do then it saves for the moment and once the power options properties window is closed the scheme is deleted. i want the "maximum battery", "portable/laptop" schemes back for the in-built powermanagement thing to work. is there anyway i can get the schemes back? please help. any help would be greatly appreactiated.

Have you tried uninstalling the software to get back to square one and seeing if you have the controlls back.

Also the built in power management for XP is surprisinly good so why are you bothering with othe ones?

yeah i uninstalled all the installed software. now i am back to square one. but the power schemes aint back.

yeah buddy, the built in power schemes are effective. the portable/laptop scheme activates some of the power management stuff which helps in saving power. so i want the schemes back. is there any way thru wich i can recreate the power schemes in registry???

So when you go into settings>Screen Savers>Power you make a new setting and do save as does it give you an error message of any sort?

A registry fix - possible but first go through the registry and delete any instances of the other ACPI software that you've installed.

yeah totally uninstalled the software(s). when i save in the power profiles its saved..but as soon i exit the window the scheme gets deleted and is reverted back to the only available scheme "home/office desk"....i think i'll need the registry fix.

Other then doing a manual search and destroy in your registry for the programs you installed I haven't found a true fix....

However this may do what you need anyway
