Unknown Returned Mails

edited August 2005 in Science & Tech
Occassionally (once every 1 to 2 months), I receive an e-mail saying that I have sent an e-mail to somebody but that e-mail could not be delivered. But the destination address was not a e-mail address that I know. Does this mean my pc was infected with virus or spy? I have already used Norton Antivirus and Yahoo Anti Spy to scan my pc and nothing wrong was report. Could somebody please me some comments on this?

Well it's possible that you did a reply-all and one of the address was no longer valid. But more likely they are just spam messages, especially if they have no real subject or body. Spammers will send out message that look like they've come from you. If the email doesn't get bounced back flags that address as valid and it gets added to the list. Usually if you have a virus that is sending out emails it doesn't do it through your email program and you won't get returned mail from bad addresses.
