AMD retail CPU core identification on packaging

my friend wants to assemble a new system wid basic processing capability. so he's decided to go in for AMD athlon 64 3000+ socket 939. now the Question is that how can he identify the core of the CPU by just looking at the retail packaging (the box), widout breaking the seal? is there any way other than reading the info that is etched on the cpu core? plz help. thanks in advance.
