BIOS mod to recognize hyperthreading?

edited September 2005 in Hardware
hello,

I have a Toshiba 2435-S255 notebook. Both the chipset (Intel) and the processor are capable of using Intel's hyperthreading technology. Unfortunately, the BIOS does not recognize this. Is it possible to mod my BIOS to allow the hyperthreading to work?

Thanks,
John

Well, if the chip in the board didn't have HT when it was shipped, they're not gonna make a bios to do that. I personally don't MOD bioses, I write my own. (I also invested in an external flasher too, along with a bag of 512kb chips.) I've only worked with AMD systems, so I wouldn't know where to start. You find me die instructions for the HT system, and your northbridge code, I could probably work on something. But remember. Just because you can stick in a chip that can do something, that doesn't mean your northbridge is built to do it. Yeah, I could find some ultra-shenanigans way to set up a 939 on a 462 system. I bet you dollars I could. But the thing is, the Northbridge couldn't handle it.
