Laptop won't boot "Media Test Failure"

edited September 2005 in Hardware
I have a Compaq Presario R3000. Intially the problems were with the wi-fi staying connected. Then I had blue sreen problems.

I re-loaded windows. no help.
I re-re-loaded windows no help.

Contaced HP (no help) but they gave me a little prog to test h/d. It showed a result that pointed to the h/d.

So I replaced the h/d and now get:

"Media test Failure, check cable"
"Existing PXE Rom"

The boot order is floppy - CD - HD - network.

I reset the default BIOS settings.

I removed the new h/d inspected and re-seated.

It will boot off of Win CD but I get the error no h/d detected when installing.

I suspect MB or some other deadly problem.

Thoughts?

thanx

Contact HP and ask them if they'll take a look at the cabling, and the socket. It sounds like the interface is going bad.
