Hard drive turns off every few hours.

Hitachi Deskstar 7D160S, bought it a year ago, and it started doing this about 3 months ago. Usually happens after three or four hours, turns off, then immediatly turns back on. The reading never stops, and it doesn't cause any problems. And sometimes, it will just click once, then return to normal function. Shit's kinda odd, but it's not causing problems. Any ideas?

wonder if it's a heat issue. Also is this after 3 or 4 hours of inactivity?

It's not a heat issue, hell, my processor never hits 35C, and my Nbridge never hits 30. My hard drive is cool to the touch, and it just does it randomly. I'm always listning to music, so there's never any long period of inactivity. It just does it.

Well could be signs of it failing. Could be nothing at all. I'd recommend doing some physical scans and a defrag more often though. Also think about backing up anything on it.

I defrag it frequently, and I have done many scans on it, Everything's gold. I am going to think about getting something to replace it with.
