PDF Software

I have to deal with pdf's a lot and although ADOBE does have a lot of features it is a huge bloated pig of a program. So I stumbled across this

http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php

The pdf veiwer is only 1 meg and doesn't even need to be installed. They also have a pdf editor that you can use free (leaves a watermark) or pay $99. The pdf editor isn't as robust as Acrobat. For example I haven't found a way to create fill in the blank style pdf's. But for just general editing and manipulations it will do the job and I prefer the way it handles text editing over Adobe. I also found it easier to move graphics and text around in general.

I haven't uninstalled adobe yet, but I also haven't used it in a month at work. At home I haven't even bothered to install and have had no use for it.

Have you tried using PDFCreator? It's herehttp://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/. It creates a printer that you can print to from any application. The result is a nice PDF. You can even install it on a server and share the printer. It works great. Use your favorite program to design a document and then print it.

I have used PDFCreator before, but I use OpenOffice at work which has the ability to save to PDF directly.

We deploy Foxit's PDF reader to all machines at my company. Replaced Acrobat Reader some time ago. We come across issues occasionally, where a PDF won't open or certain parts of it won't display. Those are few and far between and we've had fewer headaches since changing.

Lulz. I only came in to post that my company is also a Foxit Reader-exclusive shop. Unfortunately, some programs actually require Adobe Reader for some PDF functionality. Those programs can DIAF.
