Windows ME can't connect to Windows 2K

edited June 2006 in Science & Tech
When I go into the workgroup that the two machines are on, both are displayed. However, only the W2000 machine can access shared folders and files on the ME machine. When I try and access the W2000 computer from the ME computer, it reports that "Access is denied. Contact your network administrator."

So how do I change the security policies so that the ME machine can access shared folders on the W2000 machine?

You need netbios protocol running on both machines. You also need to setup a user account on the Win2000 box with the login name of the WinME machine.

Go to Start->Settings->Control Panel->Users and Passwords. Click on "Add" and type the login name that is used to logon to the Win98 machine, select a password (you can leave it blank if you don't want one) and you should be all set.
