Anyone know much about this? Basically I just got a new laptop, and its got the Centrino Duo Core (2ghz) and of course the built in wireless. I went and checked out some Routers (Linksys of course) and they had b, g and n. Now I have no interest in a B series router, I'd setle for a G series router, however it says thats the n series is 4x more range (who cares), and 12x faster than the g series (this intrigues me) is this backwards compatible with my g connection? The sales guy at Best Buy couldnt tell me a whole lot, and well I havent had to worry about wireless in the past so im not all that up to date on the latest and greatest wireless tech. Any assistance would be great =D

N is backwards compatible with G and B. So if you have an N class router it'll work with G and B, but only at G or B speeds depending on what you have. What an N class router does is it sends out multiple G bands of signal and an N class receiver can interpret multiple G bands so if you have an N router and an N card they have multiple G channels open between them.
