There's lots of action on Nvidia's newest offering, the 7900GS.

Nvidia's GeForce 7900 GS... About the same... for less from techreport.com
When one of the graphics leaders slaps its top-end GPU onto a card that costs $199, good things tend to follow. Such is the case with the GeForce 7900 GS. For most intents and purposes, it represents a price cut on the GeForce 7900 GT that brings along with it additional welcome relief in the form of temperature-controlled fans. Those two simple things conspire to make the 7900 GS a very attractive package.....

XFX GeForce 7900GS PV-T71P-UDE3 Video Card Review from motherboards.org
XFX and NVIDIA have done a great job with the 7900GS. Performance was higher than the last generation 7800GT, which has similar characteristics but was a $399 video card at launch. The 7900GS brings the DirectX 9.0 features of the 7xxx series, the performance of the 7800GT from last year for a price that is under $200. ATI doesn't have anything in their lineup in this price range at the moment and the 7900GS looks like a definite winner in the 3D gaming arena. The XFX 7900GS card was able to overclock over 20%, which is a huge increase in card using stock cooling.

eVGA e-GeForce 7900 GS Superclocked from hexus.net
eVGA are using a different cooler for this Superclocked version which they run at 500/690 (up from the default 450/660). The cooler actively cools the DRAM devices on the front side of the PCB, on the same side as the G71 GPU. Both DVI outputs are dual-link, able to drive large displays like Dell's ubiquitous 3007FWP, and on this eVGA example at least they have HDCP enabled.
and last but not least....

Fall '06 NVIDIA GPU Refresh - Part I: GeForce 7900 GS from anandtech.com
This is one of those times where a choice will have to come down to individual gaming tests. Those in the market for a new card at the $220 price point will need to pay careful attention to each game test and decide which ones are most important on an individual basis. It is much too difficult to declare a clear winner here without including an absurdly huge volume of game tests. At the same time, the stock 7900 GS is no slouch and the cheaper price tag may make it possible for people with a hard budget cap to reach a very comfortable level of performance.
