Word's Document map

When I open Word 2003, the document map automatically opens. It's easy enough to turn off, and bring it back when I need it. But I'm wondering why it opens itself when I open a new document in Word. Is there a setting I can change that will keep the document map from automatically opening?

    I haven't bothered with Office 2003 yet but have you checked around in the tools options setings? See if there is some default you can change there.

    I messed around last night with word in office XP, and could not find any options to turn it on/off automaticly....... sorry man, don't know about 2003 version.

    same here, Zuntar... i think it may have something to do with a template...
