Upload xbmc skins

Anybody out there know exactly HOW and WHAT program would be best to use to unpack downloaded skins. Only reason i'm asking is because i tryed uploading some skins to some related programs and failed. If anybody knows how step by step lemme know.

The trick with xbmc skins is that many of them depend on the version of XBMC that you are running so there can be compatibility issues. But basically if you download skins just ftp them to the skins folder in XBMC (normall f:/Apps/XBMC/Skins). Once they are there you should be able to go into xbmc and select them through your system settings.

I understand everything but you "ftp" what does that mean?

ftp file-transfer-protocol. I mean that's pretty basic stuff. If you don't know what that is I'd be hesitant to actually tell you how to use it because you can seriously screw up your xbox if you don't know what you are doing.

I been doing some more reading and i downloaded an ftp client so i got that, no worrys. But just to make sure i get it, are you saying that i ftp that skin to a folder on my xbox hd or pc hd kindas confused bout that. And anyway since most of the skins are .rar's i am using winRAR, so basically i'm asking is winRAR a good program to use?

You download the skins to your PC you then unRAR the files which should leave you with a skins folder. You then FTP that files inside that skins folder to your xbox in the XBMC\Skins folder which is usually in f:\apps\xbmc\skins.

Ok i get everything but how do you unRAR the skins?

if you click on the .rar file it should load up winrar and ask you what you want to do with them. AND what you want to do is extract them to your desktop on your pc or somewhere else where you can easily find them.
