I just bought the game *caugh* ripoff *caugh*, but I had to try it...

The darn game won't play! I'm baffled, and I am pretty darn sure it has something to do with securom7. I played the demo the day before with every setting maxed out and antialising on max and the game played just fine.

"A required security module cannot be activated.
This program cannot be executed (7000)."

Anyone have any ideas?

Uninstall deamon tools or any other image mounting software you are using.

I disabled virtual drives in alcohol, restarted, no luck.

Then uninstalled alcohol, restarted, still no luck.

Read somewhere that Intel HT may confuse the game into thinking I have a 1.4ghz cpu so I disabled HT so it is one 2.8ghz cpu. Now, I really didn't think games had built in "safety features" to prevent from even starting on old machines, but I gave it a shot anyway, no luck.

I'm thinking alcohol left something that I still need to get rid of. Not sure what though, and ideally I want to keep this wonderful program on the computer. (*caugh* internet download *caugh* in progress *caugh* just in case *caugh* *caugh* *choke*)

Um, I actually have an SCSI system in my PC, so I don't have that problem.

What does SCSI have to do with it?

If you have a native SCSI system, SCSI emulation gets ignored by that checker since awhile back, my Adaptec 2930UW would get called emulation sometimes.

I have the exact same problem. I get the same stupid pop-up with the same text. I've tried everything I can think of: shutting down everything not nailed down, disabling the firewall (I needed to do this to get the install working--Yikes!), opening permissions, etc.

Did you ever get this to work?

I can send you something to get it to work. I have to use it to install a few programs since my main hard drive is marked as SCSI.

I had problems with copy protection like this once, making a new user account and playing from there worked. Logging out and into another account again was a little annoying but it should mean you dont have to install anything new or remove any of the programs you use just to get the game going.

there's an idea I could try.

But for now, I cherish my little lovable baby torrent.

I hope to find a better manual way of fixing this problem eventually (which would be benefischal for future stuff as well), but I hardly have the time to play the game let a lone worry about it right now.
