As some may know been having some issues w/ the WORK Laptop...Well we finally got the Outlook thing going, but they say it works...and it did...from their office...

When I got back to the Hotel it didnt work...

I went back there and they said its something about the firewall at the hotel....I did try it from my AWAY office..LOL...its the bureau office...

It worked...but it still doesnt work from the hotel...

Does that sound right? The hotel's firewall?....

I can send but not recieve!

TIA

Bud

Entirely possible. If you opened up your browser and had to go to a sorta log in page for the browser then they are using a firewall, which isn't uncommon at all.

my suspicion is that when I leave the area it wont work....is there a way for me to test that out before I leave town...

    GO WIFI hunting?

Could still be a firewall even without having to go through a portal.

Well yeah you can go wifi hunting, find a nice residential area, wear a trench coat with the collar flipped up and go sniffing for wireless connections.

Question...What if I created a POP account but put in the other server stuff would it still work?....DO I have to do IMAP?

depends on the email server your trying to connect to. If it supports pop then pop will work, if it only supports imap then it won't. I'm assuming it's an exchange or lotus notes server that you are connecting to though and most likely pop won't work on it.
