WinAv Trojan virus problems

Hi,

I seem to have a trojan on my computer that loads up Windows AntiVirus software (WinAv.exe) on boot up and freezes everything.

I have seen some recommendations that asks us to remove this program or terminate it from the taskbar. But, I cannot do anything because this program freezes everything as soon as windows opens.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hi cskanth9 and welcome to Icrontic! :)

Try to do the following. If you cannot, let me know.

Click here to download HJTsetup.exe. Save it to your Desktop!
    • Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
    • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the "Select Addition Tasks" dialogue.
    • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
    • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
    • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
    • Click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
    • Copy and paste the log here
DO NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

    Hi Trogan,

    Thanks for the response.

    But,

there's the problem right there. You want me to connect to the internet...download HijackThis...and create a log file. BUT, the system freezes as soon as I boot up...cannot even click on Internet Explorer....forget about opening this message on my laptop, clicking on the link and creating the log file.

Is there any way I can kill that program without having to boot through windows?

    Thank you.

...the system freezes as soon as I boot up...
Does that happen at every boot up? How long does it take before it freezes?

Can you boot into Safe Mode?

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
    • If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
    • Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
    • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
    • Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
    • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
    • Login on your usual account.

yes..it is happening everytime. it pretty much happens immediately even before I get a chance to click on anything.

I will try logging in the safe mode today and let you know how it goes.

    Thank you.

    Hey Trogan,

The trick worked. I went in safe mode and uninstalled winav.exe. Thank you very much.

However, now I still need to solve the virus problem on my comp. I seem to have a virus that causes my laptop to start beeping (like when the laptop is running out of power when the power cable is not connected) even when the power is full. I ran a virus scan using Avast virus, ran adware to remove any harmful programs and ran SpyBot to remove any spyware. But, this is not helping.

    Any recommendations?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I only asked to go into Safe Mode to see if the computer worked there.

The next thing I need you to do is get a HijackThis log from Normal Mode and post it here please.
