Vista blurry text

Hi guys,

I'm not sure if anyone else here has experienced this but since upgrading to Vista I've notices that on my LG 20" LCD all text seems slightly blurred when in XP it is super sharp, a little ghosted and very small text appears to be the wrong colour almost like I'mn looking at it through a redshift effect. Last time I installed Vista I went back to XP partly because of this among other reasons as it gave me a headache. I then promptly forgot all about it. Well now I've installed Vista once more and the same problem has returned.

I'm using the latest beta driver with my 8800GTS at my monitors native resolution of 1680x1050. Anyone got any ideas as to what may be causing this problem?

Thanks in advance.

Clear Text is probably messed up. Check for the settings for Clear text.

Thanks for the reply. I thought it might be that, but it's exactly the same with clear type on or off. Also, I used the clear type tuner thing on the microsoft website which made absolutely no difference. :(

I have an Acer LCD monitor and I was noticing the same effects, though in XP. My monitor had an auto-calibration function that cleared it up for me.

Are you wearing the "Microsoft Clear-Type" Glasses? They only cost $149.99. Bill always wears his.

Not in XP? It must be video drivers. Try monitor auto-cal, but I suspect that you will have to play with settings manually to get it clear. You might want to use test_mon to help adjust settings.

Or switch to the native resolution for the LCD you use.

    Hey, but thanks for that.

Anyway, this issue has now been resolved. How...I'm not quite sure. I was having problems with my Vista installation that forced me to reinstall, and now the issue is gone completely. I'm not sure what was causing it but it's all better now.
