According to some evidence from the Inq, it looks like a (presumable) vendor slip-up at Computex 2007 has tipped Intel's hand: they got a desktop SLI license from NVIDIA. The Inq speculates that this is what Intel got in return for putting more NVIDIA chipsets on their boards.

Intel and NVIDIA embrace - if the Computex report is accurate.

Sorry folks, NVIDIA has confirmed for us that the Inq Computex report was inaccurate (as in totally wrong), and that they have not entered into an SLI cross licensing agreement with Intel.
