Using msn and now no sound! HELP!

edited June 2007 in Science & Tech
So I was using msn (windows live messenger, actually) and i was doing a pc2pc call with my friend. He started playing music really loudly so I turned his microphone volume off on my pc. Now, I don't get any sound at all! I still get sound before windows has booted (The beeps, bloops, and bee-bops, that go on before windows starts) so I don't no what the problem is. According to device manager everything is working properly, and I checked my volume and all that. I'm using an inspiron 1300 notebook from dell. Everything else is normal but I just cant get any sound. Some help would be great ive checked everywhere. I'm running windows xp home.

double click the volume icon and make sure that your wave volume is turned up, and that nothing is muted.

Thanks, but as I said earlier, I checked my volume. Still no luck.

Ok, I was just making sure because you said you checked your volume, but did not specify if you just checked the basic volume or the advanced volume controls.
