Seagate has been working on perpendicular magnetic storage (PMR) for some time now. Most high-capacity drives use this technology to achieve high capacity, faster I/O and lower power consumption. It's nothing but a good thing, then, that Seagate has announced improved areal density. This means more <s>pr0n</s> work, family and school-related storage space for the rest of us!
