Screen Flickering

I was working on a computer last night and I noticed everytime I minimized a program the icons would flicker until I restored the program. It wasn't one certain program. It happened with everything I opened. Everything else seemed to be fine, but I did not look real deep. Can someone link me to an article or post regarding this issue?

By the way....Windows XP SP2 is the OS

    Could be a poor video card, lack of ram, or a bad monitor timing issue, or any number of other things either hardware or software related.

    What equipment, video card, monitor and settings (resolution and refresh rate)?

    I'm not sure on the specs of the video card...i will look at that the next time I work on the machine.....i changed refresh rates back and forth and nothing changed...i also changed resolution, degaussed the monitor...etc...

    The only thing I have not done is look for an updated driver for the video card...that will be my next step. Hopefully, that will fix the problem, if not....I will be back...

    If your icons are redrawing, try not using a wallpaper, or have fewer Icons. I get a problem like that every now and then, and then I clean up my desktop. After knocking off a few handfulls of rows off my desktop, it stops.
