Vista and files on dvd disk...

Ok so I have a stack of dvd disks with archived files on.

Vista detects the media and pops up the options box, so i select to browse the media.

If I then try to open any of the folders the green progress bar fills up, but never fully, and eventually explorer stops responding - its happened with multiple disks -dvd and cd etc

Any ideas? - It's driving me bonkers!

    Is the DVD drive fine?

Yes - it reads and burns fine.

Something has just come to mind - 99% of these files were created with nero on my old pc - and probably not finalised

I now have roxio on htis new pc

perhaps that could be the issue?

Interestingly enuf - i tried to open roxio - it would not even open with a disk in the drive (a nero created one which i suspect is non finalised)

    How c*ap is that?!

    Any reccomendations - ?

I had a somewhat similar problem with RPC1 hacked DVD firmware on mine. In my case Vista installed fine from the drive, but afterwards the system would hang when installing games and such from it. I later learned that Vista doesn't support RPC1. No problems now, after I flashed back the original firmware.

Edit: found some info here, if it is of any help: http://www.cdfreaks.com/news/MS-Vista-to-reject-regioned-_-encrypted-DVDs-in-RPC1-drives.html
