so, I've got a lot of entries in my address book (from the first post) that are all still greyed-out... :P

Adding Wii friends is such a pain in the ass I don't even do it anymore. Nintendo needs to fix this. Copy a page from Microsoft's playbook on this one, Japan.

What's so tough? I didn't have any pain impressions.

I'm in agreement with prime. I have a few friends who keep saying "your name is still grayed out." Yeah, that's because I don't feel like typing in a 16 digit code for everyone.

    WiiTags!

It's such a pain! sixteen digit codes are so unintuitive.. Humanize it already! And then, I forget who I added and who I didn't because it doesn't tell you unless they add you back and you just lose track.. What a stupid system! I want an avatar and a name, just like the rest of the interworld.

It's a huge pain to enter that whole unintuitive digit thing. This is one area where nintendo needs to suck it up and admit that they don't have a good solution, and copy Microsoft for a change. Besides, what is the point of Wii friends anyway? There are no online games.

Its a way loners can make friends... "turns on Wii... see I have friends"

There will be online games. The functionality is there, it just hasen't been used yet. Hopefully it will get use eventually, unlike the USB port on your PS2.

PS2 USB ports were used for keyboards for FF 11, among other things :p

See... You made my argument for me... :p

It's bound to get used eventually.

Hopefully when that time comes, they'll have a more intuitive friend system. :)

Unfortunately, I have a feeling that each game is going to have to have it's own connectivity features. Nintendo doesn't look like it's going to create a universal matchmaking system.

Sux because some games will likely not work well, and you'll have to add all your friends seperatly ineach game. :(

Good because there wont be a monthly fee... :)

TBH, one of the thinghs that really turns me off about the XBOX is the need to pay a monthly fee just to connect to other players...:/

On a side note: we should proly split this thread somewhere on the last page.... :P

XBox Live costs about $50 a year. I'm more than happy to pay that for the level of service it provides. Also, a silver membership is free, and that gives you a lot of communication options.
