Remote Desktop Issue
We have a server running Server 2003 with a network of about 30 computers running Windows XP. I maintain them alot through Remote Desktop but recently am having an issue of connecting to some of them using the computer name. I can connect using the IP address but it won't connect using the computer name. Any ideas on how to fix?

In admin tools connect to a DC and check the DNS Forward Lookup Zones to see if your computer name and IP's are current.
Yes I'm on a domain. I checked the DNS forward lookup zones on the server and my computer and the others that I'm having trouble connecting to are there and are current.
If you join a pc to the domain, then change its name in AD Users and computers rather than from the pc it causes problems with the SID for the pc and it won't have the proper permissions to change or update its DNS record when its IP addy changes. Check the event logs on the pcs and see if there are errors reported when attempting to update there A (host) records in DNS.
Thanks so much for the help. I wasn't able to change the name on the server in the active directory but when I deleted the pc from there and deleted it from the forward lookups in the DNS and rejoined the domain, it corrected itself. A pain in the butt but at least a solution. If you have an easier way, l would appreciate the info. I do appreciate the help already given.
