Siggy
Sydney Australia
Hi all,
I hope that you can help me,
I have the Sony DCR-TRV20E and i have installed a firewire card.
I am using the firewire port on the cam and connect cam to firewire card in PC.
The camera is not recognised, it does not come up in Device Manager.
I turn the camera onto vcr, then camera, then memory (stick), it is not recognised in any of them.
I have Windows XP Pro
I have installed Ulead Video Studio 6
Sony PicturePackage
Ulead DVD Movie Factory -
None of the above recognise the camera in the capture mode.
What am i doing wrong?
Am i missing drivers -(I dont have the original CD)
Any and all help gratefully accepted!!!
regards
Siggy

That would be my first guess.
Find the manufacturer and model number of your firewire board.
Go to their website and see if you can locate any specific drivers you may need. Download them.
Follow your manufacturer's instructions to install the drivers- but I would try to also fit in the following:
Find the card in Device Manager and uninstall anything that has been installed for that board (it may show up as a IEEE 1394 bus controller). If you can't find it, don't fret, move on. Shutdown the PC and remove the board and restart your system, allowing windows to fully boot. Shut down again, install the card- reboot. Install the drivers per instructions.
Oh, and post back to let us know how it goes-
Well I am back again!
I searched this problem on Google again and this is at the top of the page!!!!
MY PC crashed and I have rebuilt it - and i am trying to use my sony cam again, however I am getting exactly the same problem as before.
I havent used it for about a year, but now I have about 10 tapes to transfer to CD and cant get it ot work at all.
Please - can anyone help me??????
I searched Sony site and can only find USB drivers
Cant find the original cd - PictureGear
have tried everything I can think of
