My sound wont work

Hello everyone.

Yesterday i was doing a windows update on a bunch of stuff, i checked the history, everything installed correctly, but now my sound wont work. Ive checked everything, the connection, the driver, volume settings, troubleshooting doesnt help either. I remember right in the middle of the update windows restarted, and it said it had recovered from a serious error. After that i had finished the update, and now my sound doesnt work through my speakers or my headphones and two separate jacks, connections, or w/e theyre called.

Please help, video feels crippled without sound.

    Hi Blitzkrieg047

    Couple of ?'s -
Which version of windows are you using
Is your soundcard on the motherboard or in a pci slot
Do you know the make of soundcard that you have
and finally do you have the drivers for the soundcard on a cd/dvd

    Windows XP, service pack 2
    Edit: PCI slot 3
    SB Audigy Audio [E800] ... i think?
Not sure, i have the system restore discs, could they be on there?

I'd say look up sound card manufactures's website for the drivers for this sound card.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled the default driver and it works now, wierd how this happened.

Not uncommon. This same troubleshooting step can be applied to ANY PCI add-on device. There's a reason we refer to it as winblows.
