Microsoft releases Intel CPU patch

It appears that anyone running a Core 2 Duo-derived or inspired chip needs to head to this Microsoft page over here for a patch. The boys in Redmond state that the patch improves operating system reliability on Core 2-based platforms.

The issue, which is apparently not a Windows problem exclusively, relates to a bug with the chip itself. Admins and users running OSes other than Win32/64 are advised to consult their motherboard manufacturers for new BIOS with updated opcodes.
