Open Source with smaller teams

A trend is developing that suggests that "less is more" when it comes to cooks in the kitchen. More and more open source projects are using fewer coders either overall or for final project readying.

MadPenguin also discusses how smaller teams may look better on individuals resumes. If you ain't getting paid, then it's for the prestige.

This coincides with a recent Time Magazine article about 37Signals, which focuses on how the small group produced such prodigious software as Ruby On Rails, Basecamp, and most recently Highrise (Icrontic HQ uses the latter two).
