Catalyst Media Control Center not installing

I have had this ATI TV wonder 550 for awhile now and everything worked out of the box, but recently when I went to open the program it said I didnt have a TV tuner or something along the lines. I could not get into the TV section where I could choose the input. I thought that reinstalling would fix this but it's not installing anymore.

I uninstalled the card, took it out, boot up, then put the card into a different PCI slot and it still didnt install. Any ideas how to fix this?

I have been running ATI cards and drivers for a few years and have had similar problems. It has always helped me to start over. If you have done all of this, my apologies in advance.

1. Download but do not install (yet) Cat Uninstaller: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1275#download AND download but do not install the following: WDM Drivers, Control Panel and Visual C++ Patch: http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/theater550-xp.html

2. Go to Add/Remove Programs and remove all ATI references to Catalyst Control Center and Display Drivers

3. PC will want to reboot, let it.

4. Upon reboot, Windows may detect your video card and want to search for and install a driver for it; DON'T LET IT. Cancel all of its efforts.

5. Go to your hard drive and delete any folders titled ATI or ATI Support.

6. Now install and run the Cat Uninstaller; it may come back clean saying there are no ATI products installed or run and actually find something to remove. Let it. Reboot if it prompts you to.

7. Once again, upon reboot, cancel all of Windows efforts to locate and install video drivers for your card.

8. Now install the WDM Drivers, Control Panel and Visual C++ Patch from above.

Fingers crossed, you should be back in business. GL!
