Halo Headache

edited June 2007 in Science & Tech
My son recently took up playing Halo on line and even got me playing, how ever we found that after we disconnected from Halo we could no longer get on line with the desktop pc. After discussing the problem with our ISP they advised us that it was a software problem and nothing they could help with. Fortunately I can hook my lap top up to access the internet, how ever I really need to get my desktop back on line. I've removed Zone Alarms and disabled with anything that resembles a fire wall and the problem that exists now is that browsers wont load. ICQ works, and I can receive email, but browsers load up with Connecting 1.0.0.0 and then fail to load.

Any tips or advice to fix this problem (and perhaps let us know how to avoid it so we can play Halo again) would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

thanks Trogan, I found that thread usingthe "search" feature while waiting, implemented the "remove MS TCP/IP" recommendation and presto, everything ok!

To think I've spent three weeks trying to work this out and the prats at my ISP were insisting it was a fire wall problem. Thanks for providing a very helpful forum!
