Nice to have gifted buddies
I was wailing this weekend as I had a Maxtor 120gb ide drive fail that I had not backed up in a few weeks and I was gonna lose a bunch of important email. Buddy stopped by before we hit the computer fleamarket and inspects failed drive. Mentions I have knocked off a componet from the bottom of the curcuit board.
Great I figure... so now I lose not only the data but warranty also.
He digs around in the bottom of the rack mount case it was in and fishes out a tiny chip thing. TINY TINY TINY chip looking thingy. Spends hours at the flea market digging thru piles of trash and finds another board with same componet. Buys junk borad for a QUARTER.
Solders it onto my disks circuit board and uses platic welder to attach it and brings me back a working drive.
Gee I love Gilbert ! This is what real computer friends do for other computer geeks. I could of never in a million years ever soldered something so tiny onto that board. Gilbert just shrugs and gives me that goofy grin of his....
What a buddy.
