Windows Update Causes System Reboot on Vista

Hi Everyone,

I have just upgraded to Vista this weekend and all seems to have gone well bar a few small glitches.

Firstly whenever I try to use windows update my system just reboots. There is no error message or blue screen. Nothing at all. It is like someone has pulled the plug out of the back of my PC and plugged it back in. Has anyone experienced this or got any idea what could be causing it?

Also on a smaller scale I can't find Vista drivers for the nforce 2 platform. I am using the latest XP driver and it seems to work fine. I am more worried about not having windows update on.

Cheers

Rich

There are no new drivers for the nForce2 platform. It's a dead chipset. As for your update issue; I've never seen anything like it, so I have no idea.

Cheers Thrax, I thought that might be the case. The XP Drivers seem to work OK anyway. I am going to try and reinstall the windows update software but if that doesn't work I can see I am going to have to contact Microsoft (which is expensive at £1 a minute).

I believe you get free support from Microsoft 90 days after a Vista purchase.

//EDIT: Yep, but as you're in the sunny UK, the number is probably different. Does this help?
