System Auto Reboot

edited July 2007 in Science & Tech
Heres a curly one for you, I had great help with my desk top problem last week, I hope you can help with this one.

I recently bought a new router so I could connect both pc and lap top to the internet at the same time.

Netgear DG834 v3

Configured to the desk top no problems using ethernet connection.

How ever when the lappy boots up not only does it not recognise the ethernet connection, but it cycles through the reboot procedure until you pull the ethernet cable out. I used to connect via USB, but now it recycles through the reboot procedure when I try to connect through the USB port also.

Is this a driver issue or a hardware issue?

Looking forward to your helpful suggestions,

Cheers

Very possibly it's a driver issue.

    Khirsah,

Have you tried to boot into safe mode with networking? Could you connect then? That (safe mode) would eliminate everything but the essentials...and might eliminate loading something that's making your problem.

    Hello,

have you tried to wait with connecting the ethernet cable untill it is fully booted?

No go with the safe mode :(
Waiting until full boot up results in the modem not geing recognised
I have a feeling its a motherboard issue, and as I cant upgrade the video card as well I may as well just buy a new PC
    This game is getting costly!
